Under the auspices of our faculty and in collaboration with Çorum Municipality, the “Conqueror and Conquest” program was organized to commemorate the 572nd anniversary of the Conquest of Istanbul. The event, held at Çorumlu Obası with the support of the municipality, was attended by Çorum Mayor Dr. Halil İbrahim Aşgın, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Dr. Zekeriya Işık, faculty members, students, and student clubs.
The program began with a conference titled “The Conquest of Istanbul: Technical and Logistical Aspects”, which focused on the technical dimensions of the conquest. This was followed by a mehter band performance, ethnosport demonstrations, and various social and cultural activities. The event, celebrated with great enthusiasm, concluded with the folk dance team performing traditional dances unique to the Çorum region, marking the commemoration of the historic conquest.
